Troy University is hosting their annual Relay for Life Friday, Mar. 22 and the Residence Hall Association has already been raising money for the cause.
The RHA is the body that represents the residents that live on campus in residence halls.
Their goal is to improve the living environment of the residents, add to their enthusiasm for living on campus and contribute to the community around Troy by fundraising for charitable organizations.
Last semester, the RHA began their funding for Relay for Life by selling Campus Life t-shirts.
They sold green long-sleeved shirts in the fall, and they just ordered purple long-sleeved shirts for the spring.
One thought the RHA is thinking of is selling tank tops in the spring semester when it starts to get warmer.
The RHA has also cleaned the football stadium after games and collected change at the Troy vs. Mississippi State game last semester.
President Carter Pierce, junior business finance major from Pensacola, Fla. is looking forward to their upcoming fundraiser called “Boo Grams.”
“A Boo Gram is a note that you can purchase for your friend, girlfriend, boyfriend, classmate or “boo” to be displayed on the Trojan Center wall to celebrate Valentine’s Day,” Erica Rosseau said.
Rosseau is not only RHA’s primary advisor, but she is also is one of the campus’ community directors in charge of North Campus and Shackelford quad with the exception of Pace Hall.
“The Boo Grams will be sold in the Trojan Center on the bottom floor from Feb. 13-14 for $1,” Pierce said.
The RHA plans to be in the banner competition and they have recently doubled their contribution goal for this already.
There is no membership fee to join RHA and their next meeting is Monday Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. in Trojan Center room 224.
