One of Troy’s most recent women’s volleyball additions, Jordan Sinness, brings SEC experience and a unique family connection.
The former Auburn setter is the younger sister of recently graduated softball star Jade Sinness, who led the Trojans in batting average last season.
The sibling duo developed a very close relationship in part due to their mutual passion for volleyball.
“I was able to play volleyball with Jordan in high school; that was always our bonding sport,” said Jade Sinness. “I loved watching her play, and I knew that if she continued to work hard, she would end up at the division one level.”
Jordan said that the interest she received in her initial recruiting process along with Troy’s excellent nursing program and knowledge of Jade’s experience at Troy all contributed to her decision to transfer to her sister’s alma mater.
The two have been big supporters of each other’s athletic journeys, and they both don’t see that changing anytime soon.
“I am very excited that she ended up ultimately choosing Troy to finish her last couple of years playing,” said Jade Sinness. “Who would have ever thought that would happen?”
While both athletes are incredibly driven, both agree that one of them is much more competitive by nature.
“Jade 100%, she will take you to the ground in a card game,” said Jordan Sinness.
Jordan Sinness is greatly appreciative of the consistent support and friendship that her older sister has provided.
“More than anything, I’m glad I have my sister so close to me,” Jordan Sinness said. “She’s been my biggest role model and somebody I’ve looked up to ever since I was little.
“When she got to play college sports, I decided I was definitely doing that too. Now that I’m here, I’m excited to continue the Sinness name.”
Troy women’s volleyball will open the regular season in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a doubleheader against Maryland and New Hampshire on Aug. 30 and a match against LSU on Aug. 31.
