Dylan Hurst Troy fell 4-1 at home in Sun Belt Conference play against an offense-heavy Arkansas State team on Friday. In the 38th minute, Arkansas State’s Taylor Schneider caught a pass from teammate Haley Husted and scored the first goal of the game. In the 41st minute, Husted caught a pass from the right wing and scored on a rush to the net, bringing the score to 2-0 in the Red Wolves’ favor. In the 60th minute, Troy’s Kiersten Edlund’s penalty kick was blocked but rebounded back into the path of teammate Karina Valeriano, who then scored her first career goal, to come within one goal, 2-1. In the 67th minute, Husted scored her second of the game when she collected a loose ball near the net, giving the Red Wolves the 3-1 advantage. In the 89th minute, Husted finished off the hat trick when she intercepted a Troy pass and sent the ball into the net, bringing the final score to 4-1. Troy then dropped their final home game of the season against Sun Belt rival Texas State on Sunday, 3-0, at the Troy Soccer Complex. Texas State took the lead early in the 14th minute, when Kayla Geren caught a pass from teammate Mackenzie Smith which went through the Trojan defenders and into the net, marking the score 1-0, Texas State. In the 78th minute, Kaylee Davis scored Texas State’s second goal after she outran the final Trojan defender to reach the ball and score, taking the score to 2-0. In the 80th minute, Kayler Davis scored the final goal of the game, to bring the final score to 3-0. Texas State outshot Troy 14-8, and Troy’s Kendra Cashion led the team with two shots. Troy’s best scoring chance came off a header from Lauren Aldrich, which hit the crossbar. The Trojans will again return to action on Friday in Little Rock, Arkansas to square off against Little Rock University. The Trojans will then face ULM on Sunday when they head to Monroe, Louisiana.
