After going into halftime against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns at a stalemate, Troy came up short by a score of 1-0 after a shot by Louisiana’s Tatum Beck bounced off the left post into the net.
The loss marks the Trojan’s second straight Sun Belt Conference loss and moves them to 0-3-1 in conference play and 4-5-2 overall.
“I thought we worked really hard today and had our chances in the second half,” said head coach Stuart Gore. “It gives us something to build off of going into a very tough week.”
The Trojans recorded nine shots, including two shots on goal, with junior forward Dolce Villaflor recording a season-high three shots -- including a free kick in the 79th minute that nearly equalized. Senior defender Olivia Simpson matched a career high with two shots.
Redshirt freshman Isabella Tomeo saw her first full match in the net and recorded a career-high four saves, besting her previous high of three saves against Mercer earlier this year.
The Trojans also welcomed back senior midfielder and captain Delaney Wells, who missed the last three matches due to injury.
With the Trojans going scoreless in their last four matches, they now tie their longest streak since 2009, when they saw a four-match scoreless slump.
The Trojans will look to get back on track at home and grab their first conference win Thursday as they play host to the Texas State Bobcats at 7 p.m. with the match also being streamed on ESPN+.
