The Sorrell College of Business’ master of business administration (MBA) program has been selected by Fortune Recommends as number one in the nation.
In its fourth annual edition of MBA ranking, published on Monday, Sept. 9, Fortune names Troy University’s MBA program one of the 100 full-time MBA programs in the nation.
The Fortune team gathered data from nearly 100 MBA programs, and some of the factors considered for the rankings include base salaries of recent graduates, cost of tuition, graduation rates and the number of MBA alumni now serving in Fortune 1000 MBA C-suite positions.
“We are very honored to be included in the Fortune Recommends Top 100 MBA Programs for 2025,” said Sorrell College Dean Dr. Judson Edwards. “The Sorrell College MBA program is consistently recognized for its high-quality, affordability and innovative curriculum—all of these positive factors result from the hard work of our faculty to ensure industry engagement and their focus on continuous improvement in all areas of the college.” Ava Barrett, a senior graduate assistant MBA global business with a focus in music industry from Grand Bahama, The Bahamas, shared her experience with the MBA program.
“The MBA program’s unique value lies in its ability to bridge theory and practice,” said Barrett. “Students gain firsthand experience by collaborating with industry luminaries such as Deborah Allen, a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, and Paul Jackson Jr., a Grammy-recognized guitarist.”
These collaborations provide invaluable insights into the music industry and challenge students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. Students learne how to develop essential skills like logistics, teamwork, budgeting and multitasking. This hands-on approach ensuresgraduates are well-prepared to excel in their careers.
“Obtaining an MBA is essential for becoming an effective business leader. Our data show that 90% of graduates from the top 10 MBA programs got jobs within three months of graduation—with average salaries of over $175,000,” said Fortune CEO Anatasia Nyrkovskaya, in an interview with troy.today. “Rankings like this one prove that Fortune is here to help our readers with authoritative insights.”
Out of all the other colleges’ full-time MBA programs, Edwards believes that the Sorrell College of Business MBA program’s ranking is a testament to not only the teachings, but also the faculty.
“I believe the ranking is the result of our focus on teaching quality and the relevance of our curriculum,” Edwards said. “It is also a reflection on the quality of our faculty and the holding of AACSB Accreditation for our programs.”
“I am very proud of the Sorrell College of Business," said Senior Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs Kerry Palmer. “Under Dean Judson Edwards, this college continues to produce outstanding, in-demand programs for our students.
“The MBA is just one of many examples of the quality of SCOB programs.”
