Students participate in UAC's Dating Game Show in the Lamar P. Higgins Ballrooms.
With the joking question of who will find love, students engaged in Troy University Activities Council’s (UAC) Dating Game Show in honor of Valentine's Day.
Sweet goodies were offered to the audience while the contestants took the stage.
“My favorite part about the show was how everyone was having such a great time,” said Katie Wilkins, one of the contestants who is a sophomore social work major from Troy, Alabama. “The atmosphere was amazing, the crowd was great, and I had such a great night.
“I would definitely do it again.”
For the set-up, the committee decorated the Lamar P. Higgins ballrooms with pink, sparkly streamers, a black backdrop and Valentine’s Day balloons. The theme for the decorations was inspired by the idea that “love is in the air” for everyone.
This also paired well with Sodexo’s love themed snacks.
“The turnout was better than expected once everyone started getting comfortable and letting loose,” said UAC Secretary Jamie Parker, a sophomore nursing major from Millbrook, Alabama. “It started going well, and many people were wanting to participate.
“My favorite part of the show was when one of the guys picked up his match. It really surprised everyone, had everyone laughing, and the show started getting better afterwards.”
As far as the game went, a curtain was used to divide the contestants and to keep them from seeing their potential matches. One side of the curtain had three people with one person on the other side.
The game of elimination out of the three for the one person to find their love was also played by the students. The contestants were able to ask the audience, as a whole, questions that would help with the decision making.
“I chose my match because he was the funniest,” Wilkins said. “All his questions aligned with mine, so it worked out.”
UAC’s next event will be Bubble Soccer. A showing of the movie “Wicked” with the sing along version at Crosby Theater will follow afterwards.
“Come out to as many UAC events as possible and have fun,” said UAC Movie Coordinator Tayjo Oppong-ADJEI, a junior sports management major from Turks and Caicos. “We try to plan ahead so that we can give everyone the opportunity to come.”
