The hype for the homecoming football game and 2024-25 basketball season was on full blast in Trojan Arena Tuesday night with the annual Trojan Madness and Homecoming Pep Rally.

Troy Athletics and Homecoming Committee held the event.

“I really enjoyed seeing everyone show up and show out for Troy, with all of us being together to cheer and show our Trojan pride, which is what it’s all about,” said Lucy Parker, a homecoming committee member who is a senior psychology major from Montgomery, Alabama. “It’s important for everyone to come support and cheer for our school and our new Mr. and Mrs. Trojan Pride.

“That’s what it’s all about.”

As fans took their seats, both basketball programs prepared to make their appearance before heading to the arena to interact with those in attendance. Basketball head coaches Chanda Rigby and Scott Cross made an appearance as well.

After the introduction of the basketball programs, head football coach Gerad Parker and a number of players from Troy football shared a few words with the fans to increase anticipation for the Troy versus Coastal Carolina homecoming football game Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Stadium at 3 p.m.

Along with crowd interactions, both basketball programs' hype videos were featured, along with cheers from the Troy cheer team, a 3-point contest between the basketball programs and the announcement for the winners of Mr. and Mrs. Trojan Pride along with the spirit stick.

Isaiah Thomas won Mr. Trojan Pride while Jayden McQueen won Mrs. Trojan Pride.

“It’s so surreal, coming in as a freshman, I never would have thought I would be where I am today,” said Isaiah Thomas, a junior global business-entrepreneurship major from Ozark, Alabama. “It’s truly a blessing because I can use this influence to push others to do what I’m doing, which is chasing whatever dream they have in mind.

“I’m glad I can be an example of the fact that anything is possible.”

“I feel incredibly blessed to be Troy University's 2024 Miss Trojan Pride,” said Jayden McQueen, a junior political science major and leadership development minor from Crestview, Florida. “I ran alongside some phenomenal women of Troy, even calling all of them my friends, and so to be selected by the student body out of such an amazing lineup is an incredible blessing.”

Out of all the sororities and fraternities that were in attendance, Phi Mu won the Spirit Stick.

“I can speak for myself and Phi Mu when I say that winning the spirit stick made us over the moon excited,” said Anna Cate Potts, a member of Phi Mu who is a sophomore marketing major from Daphne, Alabama. “We have been working so hard preparing for Homecoming and so the excitement came naturally.

“Winning the spirit stick means so much to us since we love Troy and we love to show it.”
