Students play a game of craps at casino night.
Poker, Blackjack and Craps were just a few games played during the University Activity Council’s (UAC) Casino Night in the Lamar P. Higgins Ballrooms.
Students were able to gamble with a pretend starting balance of $1,000, refreshments were served, and the dance floor was open for line dancing. Once students “made” $500, they could exchange their chips for tickets that could be used in a raffle for a prize.
“I honestly think it's the prizes that make people want to come out and hopefully win because some of the prizes are a little expensive,” said UAC’s Secretary Jamie Parker, a sophomore nursing major from Millbrook, Alabama. “Overall, it is just a thrill for students to come out and dance while also having a good time.
“Another thing that I look forward to when it comes to these types of events is the students doing line dances because they line dance almost every time.”
Throughout the night, students placed their tickets into a cup of the designated prize that they wanted to win after finishing a few casino games.
“It was a very good time,” said Greaaon Zoe, a freshman event management major from France. “My favorite part was them having the ticket drawing at the end for the prizes.
“I enjoy coming to events like this one because I love the people here, and I like to dance.”
Some of the prizes up for grabs included a popcorn machine, a record player, an espresso machine, Troy attire, a TV and a printer.
With the organization continuing to have a huge turnout at this event specifically, UAC will hold another Casino Night in the fall.
“It's actually really fun,” said Karleigh Sanders, a sophomore exercise science major from Andalusia, Alabama. “I've never played any of these games before, but I'm learning.
“UAC events always allow us to just kind of chill and be laid back. It gives some people something to do while bringing people together to a place where they can make friends.”
UAC meets every Monday at 5 p.m. in Trojan Center 119. Keep up with events throughout the semester by visiting their Instagram @troyuac.
