TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Troy Track & Field took on some fierce competition at the Crimson Tide Invitational last weekend. The Trojans were up to the challenge though, with many new personal bests coming out of the weekend.
For the women, Alejandra Gutierrez Fuente earned a second-place finish in the triple jump. She had a new personal best mark of 12.31 meters. Fuente also came away with a new PR in the 100m hurdles, running a time of 15.28.
Brooke Burns also had a strong showing, also earning a runner-up finish in the hammer throw. Burns set a new best throw of 51.34m to earn silver. Biniosa Ezukuse placed third in the shot put. She had a mark of 15.26m, her best throw of the outdoor track season. Cadi Rowe was just shy of a spot on the podium in the 5K, with a fourth-place time of 17:14.43.
On the men’s side, Tydreke Thomas led the group with a third-place finish in the 100m dash. Thomas ran it in 10.46 to earn his first podium finish of the outdoor track season. Martin Bouldo had a new personal best of 1:53.34 in the 800m to place 10th.
Cole Stewart also had a new PR with a javelin throw of 68.11m, placing fifth. Freshmen Caden Blackman and Sam Megginson both had new best times in the 1500m. Blackman was just short of sub-4, running 4:00.39. Megginson came across the line in 4:06.74.
The Trojans wrap up a successful first four meets of the season and prepare for the final four competitions before the Sun Belt Championship. The backstretch of the season will get started with the team’s first home meet since 2019. The Doc Anderson Invitational begins Friday evening and concludes Saturday.
