Trojan soccer falls to Georgia State on the road

Dylan Hurst Staff Writer The Trojans fell 3-2 against Georgia State on Saturday in Atlanta at the GSU Soccer Complex. Troy and Georgia State scored a total of five goals, all of which came in the final 41 minutes of the game. In the 49minute, Georgia State’s Brooke Shank converted a penalty kick, the fifth that has gone against Troy this season. In the 62minute, Georgia State scored its second goal after a long pass, leading to a one-on-one battle against Troy’s goalkeeper Acelya Aydogmus, which took the lead to 2-0. In the 64, Troy’s Ally Bayerscored her second goal of the season, and teammate Natalie Melillo earned her fourth season assist, to bring the score to 2-1. In the 83minute, Troy’s Kendra Cashion tied the game at 2-2 after scoring a free kick. In the 86minute, Georgia State scored on a free kick to take the game to 3-2, which was the final score. Aydogmus had 10 saves in the game, while Troy had seven shots on goal. Georgia State’s high-powered offense finished with 15 shots on goal. Troy will play at Georgia Southern on Friday, Oct. 5, in their lone match of this week. Troy was also scheduled to play against South Alabama last weekend, but the match was postponed until Thursday, Oct. 25 due to bad weather.
