The Troy Trojans came up with a much needed victory on Saturday night, Nov. 8, against the Panthers of Georgia State by a score of 45-21. Saturday night’s win improved Troy to 2-8 (2-4 Sun Belt).
The Trojans came out and converted near perfectly on offense and marched down the field on the opening drive, including a big fourth down conversion to help them go up 7-0 early.
However, Georgia State would answer back with a scoring drive of its own to even up the score at 7-7.
In the second quarter, the Trojan defense came up with a pair of interceptions by junior defensive back Montres Kitchens and senior cornerback Ethan Davis to help keep the Panthers scoreless in the second quarter.
At halftime, Troy went into the locker room up 21-7 and came out after the break with no intentions of slowing down.
To start off the third quarter, redshirt freshman defensive end Jamal Stadom forced a fumble for Troy that was recovered by junior cornerback Tray Hall and gave the Trojans a chance to extend their lead.
Three plays later, redshirt freshman quarterback Brandon Silvers broke loose for a 30-yard run up the middle for a touchdown to make the score 28-7.
In the fourth quarter, the Trojans still gained over 100 yards in offense and spread their lead to 45-21.
Saturday night Troy played much better as a team than it had all season and it showed as it ran past Georgia State all night.
