Troy dismantles the Aggies in Las Cruces

A balanced offensive attack helped the Troy University football team bounce back from a four-game losing streak to defeat New Mexico State 52-7 in Las Cruces, New Mexico on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The Trojans (2-5, 1-2 Sun Belt) were led by sophomore quarterback Brandon Silvers, who had a breakout game, as he completed 23 of 37 passes for 288 yards and five touchdowns.

Troy jumped out to a quick start and never looked back, as it jumped out to a 35-0 lead in the first half before the Aggies (0-7, 0-3 Sun Belt) could get on the board.

Senior running back Brandon Burk led the Trojan rushing attack, tallying 133 yards rushing on 10 carries to go along with a brilliant, 92-yard touchdown run. In total, the Trojans racked up 482 yards of offense on the road in New Mexico State’s homecoming game.

Despite sophomore running back Larry Rose III recording 180 yards rushing on 21 carries for New Mexico State, the Aggies were simply unable to find the end zone, thanks in part to a pair of fumbles as well as two failed fourth down plays.

The Trojans will continue their road stretch as they travel to take on Appalachian State on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Boone, North Carolina. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
