University releases statement on gun shots

Last night, gun shots were reported and later confirmed by the University. This morning, the University released a statement about the incident.

 

“Gunshots were fired outside of Sartain Hall at the Troy Campus, after midnight on Sunday, Oct. 16,” the statement said. “There were no injuries reported. An event sponsored by Omega Psi Phi fraternity was being held inside Sartain Hall at this time.”

 

A half hour after midnight, the Troy University SOS system confirmed the reports and alerted students to remain inside. An hour later, the SOS system gave the all clear.

 

“Campus police are investigating in cooperation with Troy City Police,” the statement said. The Tropolitan is awaiting a statement from Troy Police Department.

 

According to the statement, no arrests have been made. The Tropolitan will continue to cover this story as more information becomes available.
