The Troy track and field team returned from last weekend’s South Alabama Invitational boasting wins over Samford, Alabama A&M and South Alabama.
The Trojans picked up several individual victories in the three-day event, including against Mississippi State.
The women’s squad was highlighted by Corina Wieser-Cox’s first-place finish in the discus. The Sun Belt frontrunner set a new personal best of 51.68 meters in her first-place effort.
Three Trojans finished in the top 10 in the women’s 800-meter run. Tiarra Bailey placed fourth, followed by Erika Kulp and Naomi Sheppard in eighth and ninth, respectively. Kulp’s 2:20.37 topped her previous personal best and was good enough for the top-10 finish.
Zach Douglas led the way for the men’s team, capturing yet another first-place finish in the shotput. Douglas’s 18.04-meter heave nearly topped his personal best set earlier this season.
Titus Sizemore and Myles Charley also secured top finishes for the Trojans. The duo combined for a first and second-place finish in the high jump and triple jump. Sizemore captured the top spot in the high jump after jumping 2.01 meters, while Charley secured second place on a season-best triple jump performance.
The Trojans return to action tomorrow afternoon at the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn. The in-state meet will host some of the nation’s most prestigious programs in the two days of competition.
