The Troy women’s golf team found itself in 15th place after 36 holes at The Ally. The Trojans struggled as a team, finishing 35-over par after the second round.
The Ally at the Old Waverly Golf Club is held at Mississippi State and has a field loaded with top 25 teams. Some of the teams that participated in this tournament include No. 6 Auburn, No. 17 Mississippi State, No. 18 Vanderbilt and No. 21 Florida.
The four SEC schools that participated in the tournament were the only four teams below par after two rounds.
Troy’s struggles began on the first day of the tournament, combining for an 18-over par opening round. The second day wasn’t much better, and the Trojans shot 17 over.
Laura Fangmeyer found the most success for Troy. The junior from Tulln, Austria, finished her first 36 holes in 40th place individually after shooting 6-over par. Fangmeyer finished the first round with the lowest score out of all the Trojans with a 1-over par 73.
Manya Saini posted the lowest round for Troy in the second round after she finished 3-over par. The sophomore from Ahmedabad, India, responded well after she opened the tournament with an 8-over 80.
The Trojans end their fall season after finishing the third round at The Ally this past Wednesday and will not be in action until Feb. 24, when Troy will travel to DeLand, Florida, to participate in the Babs Steffens Invitational.
