Golf teams impress in Arkansas events
Troy women’s golf earned fourth place in a 17-team field at the Lady Red Wolves Classic Tuesday.
Troy came out on top of Sun Belt foe, and tournament host, Arkansas State. The Red Wolves finished seventh, while Troy was behind first place winner ULM.
The Trojans were led by junior Victoria Stutts. She had her first under-par round as a Trojan since transferring from North Carolina A&T. In that final round, she turned a two-over into one-under on the back nine.
Laura Fangmeyer found her second top-10 finish of the season, placing sixth. Fangmyer had 10 birdies throughout the tournament to put her final card at two over par.
Katelyn Altese had a huge second round of play. She shot two under 70, which put her on track to garner her first career top-25 finish. Altese finished tied for 23rd.
Alyssa Mercado, Brinson Hall and Mathilda Ringblom all had strong days as well. The trio finished 45th, 81st and 85th, respectively.
Troy will tee off one final time this fall when it travels to West Point, Mississippi. The team will compete in The Ally held by Mississippi State.
