by Harrison Glackmeyer

The Troy women’s golf team competed this past week at the Georgia State Invitational. The team was able to finish in third place out of 16 teams at the Rivermont Country Club in Johns Creek, Georgia.

The Trojans had a successful first day on the course and had two players shoot under par. At the conclusion of the day, the Trojans stood in fourth place.

During this tournament, the Trojans were able to beat numerous teams that have higher rankings on the season. Key players were able to shoot low on the first day. Which allowed room for minor errors on Tuesday.

Laura Fangmeyer scored 72 on the first day and only went  1-over-par on the second day. Fangmeyer placed ninth as an individual, which helped the Trojans move up. Fangmeyer has had a remarkable season so far and added this tournament to her others, where she placed in the top-10.

Katelynn Altese and Shaelee Scarberry successfully were able to score in the top-25 for the tournament individually. Altese scored 223, 7-over-par for the tournament, while Scarberry scored 221, only 5-over-par.

Bruna Roqueta  scored 5-over-par in the first round; however, Roqueta had a rocky second day, scoring 11-over-par. Roqueta finished the tournament in 36th- place individually.

Overall, the Trojans competed with their best foot forward this past week, earning third place out of 16 teams.

The Trojans will be competing against Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, GA, this upcoming Monday.
