Women’s golf struggles in Franklin

The Troy women’s golf team placed ahead of No. 42 Michigan State and No. 50 Middle Tennessee to claim 12th place out of 15 teams at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee.

 

Nine of the teams in the tournament were ranked in the Golfweek Preseason Top 50, including Alabama, who finished 43 shots ahead of second-place SMU.

 

Senior Fátima Fernández Cano was the highest-placing Trojan in the tournament, finishing with a 1-over 217, in a tie for 12th place. Cano used three birdies in her final three holes to finish 1-over 73 in the third and final round, securing her placement.

 

Senior Gabi Oubre’ followed up Cano’s performance with consistent tournament play, recording a 75-74-75 performance over the three rounds. Oubre’s play earned her a tie for 37th place.

 

Senior Becca Horner struggled in the third round of play, falling from 34th after the second round to a tie for 53rd. Sophomores Bianca Lohbauer and Lindsey Harrison rounded out the field of play for the Trojans, finishing 65th and 77th in the tournament respectively.

 

The Trojans will look to bounce back on Oct. 3-4, when they travel to Columbia, Missouri, to participate in the Johnie Imes Invitational hosted by Missouri.
