Slight decrease in parking tickets since new lot opened, police say

Tu To Staff Writer There has been a slight decrease in parking tickets given since the Trojan Center parking lot opened at the start of this semester, considering the drop of enrollment of Troy campus students. Then and now: the eternal issue

A 1992 Troy graduate said parking was a major problem the entire time she was enrolled at the university. “We complained constantly about it also,” Jennifer Garrett said. “Back then, tickets were only like $10, so if you were running short on time to get to class, you just parked illegally and paid the ticket.” Some things never change. According to Dean of Student Services Herbert Reeves, the University will add about 600 parking spaces in a new lot. The site is across Luther Drive from the Trojan Center, between the Trojan Center and the track, and between the Trojan Center and Trojan Arena. Troy University started selling parking decals on Saturday, Aug. 13.
