Two Troy University students were arrested in connection with a gang rape that allegedly occurred during spring break on Panama City Beach in Florida.

In a statement on the Facebook page of Frank McKeithen, Bay County sheriff, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office said it obtained a video from the Troy Police Department that appears to show the rape.

The BCSO Criminal Investigations Division identified the victim in the video, and, after speaking with witnesses, established the incident took place between March 10 and March 12 behind Spinnaker on Thomas Drive.

The BCSO and the Troy Police Department identified two suspects and arrested them.

According to the Troy Messenger, Herbert Reeves, dean of student services, confirmed that suspects Delonte’ Martistee and Ryan Austin Calhoun are students at Troy University.

Reeves told the Messenger that both men “were temporarily suspended pending the outcome of a formal hearing.”

Reeves said they would have to appear before the student disciplinary committee before they are allowed to return to class.

TroyTrojans.com lists Martistee as a junior from Bainbridge, Georgia, on the 2013-14 Men’s Track roster.

In a video of a press conference released on Facebook by the County Press Advertiser, McKeithen discussed the content of the rape video and said that perhaps hundreds of people could have witnessed this and no one stopped it or reported it.

“If you condone this, you should be in jail right along with them as far as I’m concerned,” McKeithen said.

McKeithen said it was no longer safe for children to be on the beaches “when these animals are out there conducting themselves like this.”

“I am tired of trying to make ice cream out of chicken shit,” McKeithen said.
