The Troy women’s golf team opened up its spring season with a 16th-place finish out of 17 teams at The Dickson tournament hosted by Houston on Tuesday.
The tournament was originally scheduled to be played from Monday to Tuesday, but rain caused both of Monday’s rounds to be cancelled. Troy faced a talented field of competition as eight of the teams were ranked in the top 50 nationally.
Even though only one round was played, Troy finished Tuesday just 25 shots back from the overall winners, Clemson.
On the individual leaderboards, Troy’s Bianca Lohbauer led the Trojans with a 2-over 74 in the tournament’s lone round. Lohbauer’s performance was good enough for a tie for 32nd place. Lohbauer’s performance was followed with another top-50 finish from Sarah Harrison, who carded a four-over 76 in her 18 holes.
Finishing behind her were Lindsey Harrison and Eva Fabricius-Bjerre with a 6-over and an 8-over, respectively.
Anotnia Poate had the highest score for Troy, ending her day at 10 shots over par.
The Trojans will enjoy a little over two weeks of rest before they play at the 3M Augusta Invitational on March 16-18 in Augusta, Georgia.
