Williams named All-District 23 Second Team

by Logan Pittman Senior Zay Williams wrapped up his career as a Troy Trojan with All-District 23 Second Team honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches this past week. Heartbreak in Pensacola

 by Taylor Fraze The Troy men’s basketball team’s campaign for a championship screeched to a halt after a loss to James Madison in the Sun Belt Tournament Quarterfinals. Troy won its first matchup in dramatic fashion over Arkansas State in round two of the tournament and had optimism heading into the quarterfinals. by Dylan Seymore  The Troy men’s basketball team played their final home game of the season Friday night against Coastal Carolina.  Kieffer Punter, Darius McNeil, Zay Williams, Nelson Phillips and Lydell Geffrard were all recognized before the matchup for Senior Night.  Although, it was senior night, it was a junior who lead the team in points. by Taylor Fraze  This week’s spotlight is on junior men’s basketball guard Christyon “Spudd” Eugene.  Eugene led the Trojans in scoring this past week with 17 points against ULM and 19 points against Coastal Carolina. In the game against Coastal Carolina, Spudd set a career high with five made 3-pointers in the game. by Logan Pittman Nelson Phillips recorded a 23-point performance against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. He was on fire from range, knocking down five 3-pointers with two of them coming in the final minutes of the game. He would go on to score 10 straight points, including those two 3-pointers, allowing the Trojans to pull away with a 62-52 lead.  This is not the first time Phillips would lead a comeback for the Trojans.
