New IAC exhibit shows southern roots

by PJ Heath Troy University’s International Arts Center is welcoming a new exhibit which highlights work of Alabamian artist, Jerry Siegel, a Selma, Alabama native known for intimate portraits of Alabamians, their lives and landscapes. The Center is billing Siegel’s latest exhibit, “The Tender Land; The Promise of Living,” which is inspired by 1954 opera “The Tender Land” by Aaron Copland and Erik Johns. License plate scanners installed at every campus entrance and exit

by Emily Mosier Troy University police placed license plate readers this month at all 12 campus entrances and exits, instantly alerting campus police when individuals on the state sex offender registry and those with outstanding felony warrants are on campus. The solar-powered Flock Safety Cameras, which police said do not automatically alert them to individuals with other types of criminal records and warrants, send emails and text messages to police while calling dispatch. New Sports Bar Coming to Troy

by Emily Mosier Alabama sports bar chain Baumhower’s Victory Grill will be opening a location in July on the Trojan Parkway adjacent to Publix. Construction workers recently broke ground on The Troy University-themed restaurant, which will hire between 80 and 100 employees.
