Men’s Tennis defeats Alabama State to improve to 7-1 on the season

Wesley Kircharr Sports Writer The Troy men’s tennis team improved to following a 7-0 win over Alabama State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.  Troy kicked off the day with winning performances from Christopher Tasker and Nicolas Simkin, posting three victories in doubles play. Francisco Erramuspe and Vito Llinares posted another win in doubles play to take the point for Troy en route to the shutout victory.  In singles play, Troy found much of the same success. Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy men’s tennis team rallied to defeat Georgia Southern before falling to top-seeded Georgia State last weekend in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Peachtree, Georgia. The Trojans wrapped up a 13-win season on Saturday after falling 4-0 to the Panthers in the quarterfinals. The loss to Georgia State was the last match for Troy Head Coach Scott Kidd, as he announced in March that he would resign at the end of the season. Men’s tennis extends winning streak to 10 games

Ty Ammons Staff Writer The Troy Trojans men’s tennis team won all three of its matches, making for 10 straight wins, on March 27 and 28 at the Troy Spring Invitational. After moving up five spots in the ITA National Team Rankings last week, Troy is now ranked No. 57. Tennis teams dominate on the road

Ty Ammons Staff Writer The Troy men’s and women’s tennis teams both won their matches this past week. The men’s team got wins against Kennesaw State and Alabama State, 4-2 and 4-0, respectively. Meanwhile, the women’s team won 4-1 against Mercer. The women’s team traveled to Fort Walton Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, March 10, to face Mercer.
