by Caleb Thomas The Troy men’s tennis team beat Georgia Southern to advance to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament before losing to rival South Alabama on Friday. In Peachtree, Georgia, the Trojans won their quarterfinals match of the tournament against the Eagles, 4-2. After they lost the doubles point to Georgia Southern, Troy was staring at a 1-0 deficit. by Caleb Thomas Georgia Southern 4-2 on the Trojans’ Senior Day. Seniors Vito Llinares and Francisco Erramuspe were sent off with the victory against the Eagles on Monday afternoon. In the victory, Llinares played a big role, bouncing back from an early deficit to win his singles match 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. Troy started its week-long adventure in Louisiana, where the Trojans fought hard against conference opponent Louisiana.  The Trojans won the doubles point to give them a 1-0 lead, but they soon found themselves down 3-1. Tennis suffers two losses

by Taylor Fraze The Troy men’s tennis team traveled to Lafayette, Louisiana, on Saturday to battle the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. The result of the match was less than ideal as Troy lost 4-3.  There were some bright spots in the matchup, however, like Troy winning two of the three doubles matches. Troy only won two of the six singles matches, which became the deciding factor in the loss against Louisiana.  The entire matchup was tightly contested from start to finish. by Caleb Thomas As tennis season kicks into gear, both the men’s and women’s tennis teams began Sun Belt Conference play.  In matches against JMU and Old Dominion, the Trojan men went 1-1, bringing their overall record to 13-3.  A tight showdown against the Dukes was decided by just the doubles point, with Troy winning 4-3 after the singles matches were split.
