Several lower seeds have been inexplicably pushing their way to the top during the tournament’s opening games. Women’s basketball finishes strong, claims final two home games

Sinclair Portis Staff Writer Troy’s women’s basketball team returned home on Thursday, Feb. 25, defeating UL-Lafayette 90-83 and UL-Monroe 74-64 on Saturday, Feb. 27. The Trojans’ victory in their game against UL-Lafayette was their 16th game over 80 points, as well as their first against the Ragin’ Cajuns (18-9, 11-7 Sun Belt) to score at least 90. Sinclair Portis Staff Writer The Trojan women’s basketball team bounced back from a tough loss at South Alabama by defeating Appalachian State 100-89 in Boone, North Carolina. Despite giving up a 22-point lead on Saturday, the Trojans (13-12, 8-8 Sun Belt) almost let the game slip away, but they regrouped in extra time to win. In overtime, Troy dominated offensively, outscoring the Mountaineers 15-4 and outrebounding them 12-3 on its way to its sixth 100-point game this season. Sinclair Portis Staff Writer The Trojans’ women’s basketball team broke its six-game losing streak with two wins at home against Georgia teams, but dropped a close road game against South Alabama.
