Men’s tennis is off to a hot start with the Trojans advancing to 3-0 over the weekend.

The Trojans started their home schedule with a double header against AUM. Troy swept AMU 7-0 and 5-2 on Saturday.

The Trojans started off with a win in doubles thanks to the duo of Pelayo Antuna and Carles Anton winning their 15th career doubles match together. The duo of Amer Bedwan and Vito Llinares earned their second doubles match victory of the season.

With the lead thanks to the doubles matches, all six singles matches were won in just two sets. AUM only scored more than three points in one match. Both Anton and Nicolas Simkin won a set without dropping a point.

In the second match of the doubleheader, Troy lost one doubles match but the pair of Antuna and Anton won 6-2 making it their 16th career doubles win, and their 10th when playing on court two.

Much like the in the first match, Troy took the lead early. The Trojans were able to win the first set in five of the six matches, while not giving up more than four points before beating the Warhawks with straight set wins on courts one through five.

Men’s tennis will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 30, when they play host to Point University for a double header.
