by Logan Pittman Troy Softball played host to the Troy Invitational this past weekend. The invitational lasted over a span of three days.  The Trojans had a strong start to the invitational. They handled both Kennesaw State and Murray State on Friday with 6-1 and 4-2 victories.  Jade Sinness recorded her first home run of the season to start off the bottom of the third against Kennesaw State. The Trojans took on two teams: SIUE and Belmont.  Southern Illinois suffered back-to-back losses as the Trojans defeated them by multiple runs. The Trojans won the first game 4-0 and the following game 2-1. Belmont gave Troy a run for its money, leading to losses in  both games. Hanna Cooper Editor-In-Chief For just the second time in program history, and the first time in Arlington, Texas, the Troy softball team swept UT Arlington during the opening weekend of conference play.  Leanna Johnson surpassed the 500 career strikeouts milestone en route to a shutout win over UT Arlington, 5-0, before Troy utilized timely offensive bursts to down the Mavericks and take the series, 4-1, Saturday at Allan Saxe Field.  Needing seven strikeouts to top the 500 mark, Johnson fanned 10 Mavericks to become the second Trojan in program history…
