Records fall at Auburn’s Tiger Classic

Dylan Hurst Staff Writer Troy’s track & field teams had a successful outing at the Tiger Classic held by Auburn at Hutsell-Rosen Track. The Trojans recorded four top-five finishes, seven season best performances and one athlete set her personal record.  Junior Caleb Brown paced the Trojans in the hammer throw at 54.69 meters, finishing in third out of 13 throwers. Dylan Hurst Staff Writer The Troy men’s tennis team faced Georgia State in a Sun Belt Conference dual match but came up short, 1-4. The Trojans almost clinched the doubles point during the beginning of the match but couldn’t close it out.  Pelayo Antuna and Jiaqi Duan came up short in doubles play, as they fell 6-4 against State’s MacFarlane and Hussey. Dylan Hurst Staff Writer The Trojans struggled against Texas State’s defense as they fell 58-44 on Thursday night in Sun Belt Conference action in Trojan Arena. The Trojans made only 15-of-50 shots (30 percent) from the field but held the Bobcats to just 6-of-20 (30 percent) from the field.  Senior Alex Hicks led the Trojans with 13 points alongside eight boards while fellow senior BJ Miller recorded seven points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists.
