Fall registration begins May 4

While the summer semester remains online, the fall 2020 semester is being planned as on campus. Registration begins Monday, May 4, according to Troy University announcements. Senior registration begins at 8 a.m., and junior registration starts at 1 p.m. on Monday. On Tuesday, May 5, sophomore registration will open at 8 a.m., and freshman registration will begin 1 p.m. A “classification hold” will appear on student accounts until the above times according to classification. Business office holds must also be removed before registration.

Emergency fund to help students during pandemic

Students are able to apply for financial help through Troy University’s Emergency Fund, with the money available coming from university donors. The Emergency Fund is different from the CARES Bill recently passed, including payments to students; the university is still working on how to allocate those funds. “This is though the Troy University Foundation,” said Dean of Student Services Herb Reeves. “The fund is supported by donations from the Troy alumni, family and friends.” In the meantime, students are able to receive up to $250 from applying for help from…

Coby Alexander Hannah “Halo” Littleton, a senior broadcast journalism major from Montgomery, Alabama, is a musical artist and student at Troy University. Troy was battered with severe weather for a second Sunday in a row, knocking down trees and leaving many without power last night. No injuries have been reported in Pike County, according to Mayor Jason Reeves. Reeves also said “several hundred” are still without power, as of Monday afternoon. Stay at home order issued; residents can stay in original dorms

Gov. Kay Ivey issued a stay at home order effective Saturday at 5 p.m. in hopes of fighting the spread of COVID-19. The order was announced at a news conference on April 3. In compliance with this order, Troy University is changing its guidance regarding students retrieving possessions from residence halls and consolidating those staying into two buildings.
