Trojans win over The Herd

by Harrison Glackmeyer The Trojans women’s tennis team earned one victory and one loss this past weekend. The Trojans competed in matches against Appalachian State and Marshall. The matches were held at the Trojans Lunsford sports complex where they have a 5-4 record for the 2022-23 season.  The Trojans started the weekend off on Saturday morning playing against App State, entering the weekend with two-match winning streak for the season.  The morning started with Troy in the lead after earning the doubles point. Men’s and Women’s golf are on a roll

by Logan Pittman The Troy men’s and women’s golf teams had a busy week over spring break with the men participating in the Seminole Intercollegiate and the women participating in the Bama Beach Bash.  The men wrapped up the Seminole Intercollegiate with a total score of 895, which was good enough for a fourth-place tie with Indiana.  Leading the Trojans was Jake Springer, who finished in a tie for 10th place with a score of 221. Tennis suffers two losses

by Taylor Fraze The Troy men’s tennis team traveled to Lafayette, Louisiana, on Saturday to battle the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. The result of the match was less than ideal as Troy lost 4-3.  There were some bright spots in the matchup, however, like Troy winning two of the three doubles matches. Troy only won two of the six singles matches, which became the deciding factor in the loss against Louisiana.  The entire matchup was tightly contested from start to finish. Softball takes down Warhawks

by Caleb Thomas Leanna Johnson made Troy history as the softball team won a road series against ULM last weekend. After holding ULM to four hits and two runs over six innings on Sunday, Johnson secured win No. 94 in her career – the most in school history. Johnson has had a historic senior season, with an elite 1.26 earned run average over 122.1 innings.  Sunday’s 9-2 victory captured the series for the Trojans, who moved to 4-1-1 in Sun Belt Conference play and 23-9-1 overall.
