Progress is being made toward the implementation of the Transloc app and Kaplan test preparation classes, according to Olivia Melton, a senior math and economics double major and Student Government Association president.
The Transloc app for Troy University is set to release on Thursday, Oct. 27, allowing the use of its shuttle service to be more trouble-free, connected and smart.
Transloc will help students get accurate, real-time locations of the shuttles, which in turn would make it easier and more convenient for students to use them.
Melton said this new feature will greatly affect how students use the shuttles and will increase the number of students who choose to ride the bus rather than drive.
“The new Transloc app will make riding the bus to school easier than ever,” Melton said. “It is anticipated that more students will want to use the shuttle rather than drive. This will help reduce the parking problem and will also be more convenient and economic for the students.”

The Kaplan post-graduate test prep classes will start in spring 2017 for Graduate Record Exam and Medical College Admission Test. The GRE classes will be live online, and the MCAT classes will be held on the Troy campus.

Now that Homecoming and Rivalry Week are finished, SGA and athletics look toward future campus and sporting events.
Trojan Madness was held on Tuesday, Oct. 25, supporting the men and women’s basketball teams. The evening featured free prizes, a dunk contest and a tipoff event at 7:30 p.m.
The athletic department will host a pep rally on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 5:30 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Stadium. The theme is “United Against UMASS,” and the department said patriotic outfits are encouraged.
