The Troy football team added Clemson to its 2025 schedule and continued a trend of scheduling Power 5 and accomplished Group of 5 teams.
The Trojans and Tigers have met twice—once in 2011 and most recently in 2016. In both games, Troy had a lead before Clemson pulled away.
Clemson becomes the eighth different Power 5 opponent Troy has scheduled over the next decade.
This season, the Trojans play Nebraska. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are coming off a 4-8 season, but this season they will have an entirely new coaching staff featuring rising star Head Coach Scott Frost.
Next season, Troy plays at Missouri in October and reignites its series with Southern Mississippi, whom the Trojans have played nine times since 1936.
Between 2020 and 2027, the Trojans play Mississippi State and North Carolina State at home and will head to South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kansas State and Clemson.
In addition, the Trojans play notable Group of 5 programs, such as Southern Mississippi from Conference USA, Akron from the Mid-Atlantic Conference and Memphis from the American Athletic Conference.
In the Trojans’ first year of FBS play in 2001, they defeated Mississippi State for their first win over a Power 5 opponent.
When the Trojans play the Bulldogs in 2026 and 2027, it will mark the sixth and seventh times the Trojans play the Bulldogs, and 2027 will mark the second time the Trojans have been the host.
In 2004, the Trojans defeated the No. 17 Missouri Tigers at home and earned their first win over a nationally-ranked team.
The 2019 matchup will be the third meeting, and the Trojans will have a chance to take the series lead.
Troy Head Coach Neal Brown is currently 1-4 against Power 5 opponents since taking over the football program in 2015. Brown can improve his record this season when the Trojans travel to face Nebraska on Sept. 15.
