The Trojan golf team finished play at the David Toms Intercollegiate at the University Club in Baton Rouge in ninth place overall, with Conner Futrell leading the individuals with his 13th-place finish Saturday and Sunday.

Troy recorded the third-best score in the second round after rain shortened that day’s total play.

During the third round, the Trojans shot 3-over to move past three other teams in the final standings.

Futrell finished the tournament with seven birdies overall and shot a 72 on his first and third rounds while he shot a 76 on his second round.

His performance earned him 13th place overall for his second 13th-place finish in the second event of the season.

Jake Tiffin recorded three birdies over five holes on the back nine in his final round, where he finished at 1-under par.

This strong round allowed him to climb 20 spots into a tie for 40th place.

Teammate Ike Alexander scored four birdies during his final round after recording three bogeys earlier in the round.

He also finished at 1-under par, which is his first round under par this season. He recorded a tie for 27th place overall in the final standings after he ascended 22 positions following his strong final round.

Will McFadden recorded three consistent rounds at 78-77-77 to end the event tied for 55th place. Bryson Bianco, a late addition to the lineup after Dean Martin was too ill to play, finished in 71st place.
LSU claimed the top spot overall, holding a commanding lead of 28 shots over in-state rival Louisiana.

The remainder of the top five were Mercer, North Alabama and ULM.

Troy recorded four victories during the tournament with wins over Oral Roberts, Pennsylvania, Southeastern Louisiana and New Orleans.

Troy returns to Louisiana again this upcoming weekend for the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate hosted by Louisiana Tech at the Squire Creek Country Club.
