After losing its first conference game, the Troy’s women’s basketball team returned home to play host to Louisiana’s Sun Belt duo of Louisiana Monroe and Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Trojans started the game shooting hot from behind the arc, making four of eight of their three-point attempts. At the end of the first quarter, Troy led the Warhawks 22-9.

Following the exciting performance in the first quarter, Troy never slowed its scoring. The Trojans had the lead for all of the game except for the first 16 seconds of the game which remained scoreless. For the seventh time this season and the third consecutive game, 12 Trojans scored in the game.

Kayla Robinson was Troy’s leading scorer, knocking down seven of 14 shots, which totaled for 20 points. This was the eighth time in her career Robinson has scored 20 or more points.

“It was a nice win bouncing back from a disappointing loss at Georgia State,” Troy Head Coach Chanda Rigby said. “ULM is a tough team that brought a lot of energy, but I thought we did a nice job battling throughout and coming away with a win at home.”

After the Thursday night victory, Louisiana came into the Trojan Arena. Troy knocked down the Ragin’ Cajuns 90-64.

The Trojans opened the game shooting hot again, making seven of its first nine shots with a 21-3 run in the opening quarter to take a 29-11 lead after 10 minutes. The lead rose to 25 points in the second quarter, because of Troy’s productivity from behind the arc.

The Ragin’ Cajuns battled back to cut the Troy lead to just eight, 55-47 midway through the third quarter, but the Trojans used a 10-0 run coming out of a timeout to regain control and eventually building up a 28-point advantage.

Sky’Lynn Holmes finished the game with 15 points, 20 rebounds and five assists. The rebound mark was the second-highest of her career and just two behind tying the program’s single-game record of 22 set by Caitlyn Ramirez in 2017.

On Saturday, Troy will head down to Mobile to take on South Alabama .
