Tornado touches down in Troy, none injured

Pike County experienced severe weather and a tornado Tuesday morning, causing damage in the northern parts of the county near the Troy Municipal Airport.

Damage was reported near Pike County Road 1177. A tree fell on a home in this area, but no one in the house was injured, according to WSFA.

WSFA also reported damage near Pike County Road 2243.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said a house and a barn along Oak Grove Road, which is just south of the airport, sustained damage.

NOAA confirmed a tornado touch-down southwest of Pike County Road 1, which is approximately 2.5 miles southeast of the airport in north Pike County.

According to xxxx, Tuesday’s storm will lead to a change in temperatures with cooler weather coming.

Expect a low around in the mid-40s Tuesday night with winds as high as 25 miles per hour.

For the remainder of the week, Troy will see sunny skies with highs in the mid-70s reaching 80 and calmer winds.

Chances of rain will return this weekend with a 20% chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.
