Softball rolls in fall home opener

Daniel Hunt Staff Writer The long-anticipated start to the 2018 softball season kicked off on Saturday with two Trojan victories against Northwest Florida State at home.  In the first game of the doubleheader, both teams struggled out of the gate.  In the third inning, Northwest Florida State would face nine total Trojan hitters. On the opening kick-off, sophomore defensive back Marcus Jones returned a 96-yard kick for a touchdown and became Troy’s (4-1, 2-0 Sunbelt) all-time leader in kickoff returns with four in his career.
