Troy University Board of Trustees Vice President pro tempore and first black SGA president Lamar Higgins recounts life of involvement and change

Luke Brantley Variety Editor Troy University Board of Trustees member Lamar Higgins was born in Marbury, Alabama, a small town in the center of the state, close to Prattville. Higgins began attending school while segregation was still in full effect. He attended a segregated school, until his fifth grade year. The conference is put on by a combination of Troy University, the city of Troy and the community, according to Student Involvement and Leadership Assistant Director Sadaris Williams.
