Women’s hoops wins four straight

Rachael Wilkerson Contributor The Troy women’s basketball team is on a four-game winning streak after defeating Thomas University, Villanova and Loyola over Thanksgiving break. The Trojans (4-1, 0-0 Sun Belt) defeated Thomas University 110-55 on Monday, Nov. 21, in the Dothan Civic Center. Then, they handled business in the San Juan Shootout at Daytona Beach, picking up a pair of significant wins. Rachael Wilkerson Contributor Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy women’s basketball team fell in its first game of the regular season with a 61-52 loss at Auburn on Friday night in Auburn Arena, but bounced back at home with a 91-74 win over Belmont. Troy (0-1, 0-0 Sun Belt) battled back and forth against Auburn (1-0, 0-0 SEC) in the first half, but turnovers became its undoing on the road against the Tigers. Men’s hoops tops AUM 84-65

Rachael Wilkerson Contributor The Troy men’s basketball team defeated AUM in an exhibition game 84-65 in Trojan Arena on Thursday night. The Trojans jumped out to a 24-7 lead by the 12:47 mark in the first period before going ahead 46-36 at the half. With just 22 seconds left in the game, freshman Whit Moreman made his first Trojan appearance with a quick rebound and a two-point buzzer beater to end the game.
