Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy women’s tennis team split its first two conference matches over the weekend, dropping a 3-4 contest to Georgia State before beating Coastal Carolina 4-2. Both games were hosted by Georgia State, with the Trojans taking on the Panthers on Saturday and Coastal Carolina on Sunday. Senior Alicia Rodriguez led the way for the Trojans in singles play, winning both of her matches over the weekend. Michael Shipma Sports Editor After losing its first six matches, the Troy women’s tennis team picked up its second win of the spring season by defeating UAB 4-2 on the road in Birmingham. A big part of the Trojans’ win was a clean sweep in doubles play as the duo of Jiayuan Xue and Efriliya Herlina shut out the Blazers’ Natalie Voss and Taylor Factor 6-0. Michael Shipma Sports Editor The Troy women’s tennis team snapped a six-match losing streak Saturday, defeating Bethune-Cookman 6-1 before falling to North Florida 1-6 the next day. The Trojans played both matches in Jacksonville, Florida, and now look forward to a road matchup with UAB before a two-match home stretch at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. Women’s tennis wraps up play in T-Town

Michael Shipma Sports Editor Sophomore Hannah Seizer led the Troy women’s tennis team in Tuscaloosa this weekend, winning her team’s only singles draw in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic hosted by Alabama. The Trojans struggled in singles play, with the exception of Seizer, while the doubles teams came much closer to victories in their brackets. Seizer advanced to the finals of her bracket after defeating West Alabama’s Andrea Tomassone in three sets.
