Students looking for internships or a job after graduation can attend the Spring Career Fair where employers will be recruiting students.

“We want to encourage any student to come because we’re talking about, not just jobs after you graduate, but internships,” said Lauren Cole, the career services coordinator. “Employers are just as interested in hiring interns.”

The career fair will be held on Wednesday, April 4, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Trojan Center Ballrooms.

“Definitely, if you’re a junior or senior still looking for a job, it’s vital for you to come,” Cole said.

Peace Corps, OneMain Financial, state of Alabama DHR and WDHN Local News 18 are a few businesses that will be recruiting students at the fair.

“If you’re looking for a job right now, or anytime in the near future, go ahead and come,” Cole said.

Cole said some employers will be looking to hire business majors, but all majors should come.

“Some of our employers, I’d say at least half of them, they don’t have a preference on major,” she said. “They’re really just open to a good strong candidate with a decent GPA.”

Cole said students with interpersonal skills, good conversation skills and who are professional will impress employers.

“Dress professionally,” Cole said. “Honestly, that’s one the larger complaints we’ve heard from employers.”

Students who attend the fair can get a free professional headshot made and be entered into a raffle to win prizes.

“We’ll have a resume station (at the fair) if someone wants their resume reviewed real quick,” Cole said.
