Troy student injured by SUV in hit-and-run

The Troy Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident that left a Troy student with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Troy Police Chief Randall Barr.

A 20-year-old female student was struck by a white SUV while crossing Park Street at University Avenue. The SUV left before officers arrived on the scene.

Police have not released the names of those involved in the accident, but have located the driver and vehicle involved, according to Barr.

Anita Azu-Eni, a senior nursing major from Nigeria and friend of the victim, told the Tropolitan her friend was released from surgery around 3:30 p.m. and is recovering at the Troy Regional Medical Center.

Police are asking anyone with information pertaining to the incident to call the Troy Police Office at 334-566-0500.
