MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Troy men’s golf team ended its 2012-13 season on Wednesday with a sixth-place finish in the final round of the Sun Belt Conference Men’s Golf Championships at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

Limited play was completed early this morning before rain moved into the area that suspended play until approximately 11:30 a.m. From there the wet course plagued a majority of the teams as the Trojans fell to a 20-over, 308, to wrap-up the 54-hole event in sixth out of 11 teams.

Jake Tucker finished as Troy’s lowest player overall with a three-over, 75, on Wednesday. The sophomore bogeyed the second hole and shot even-par on the remaining eight holes on the front nine, to make the turn at one-over. He then birdied the 11th before dropping a double bogey on the 13th to move back to two-over. One additional birdie plus two bogeys pushed Tucker to three-over on the day and four-over overall, seventh at 220.

Phillip Brennan finished as Troy’s No. 2 player at six-over, 222. Brennan birdied just once in the final round, to go along with three bogeys and one double bogey to finish the round at four-over, 76, and the tournament tied for 13th at six-over, 222, overall.

Kyle Thommesen turned in a six-over, 78, to jump to Troy’s No. 3 spot. The junior bogeyed six times, birdied twice and double bogeyed once to finish the round at 78, and the tournament tied for 25th at 10-over, 225, overall.

Tolver Dozier closes out his sophomore season with a 13-over par, 229 in just his second Sun Belt Championships. Dozier dropped two double bogeys and two bogeys on the day to finish the final round at seven-over, 79, tied for 25th.

Will Clowdus finished the tournament at 25-over, 241, in 51st.

North Texas fired second and third round scores of 287 and 289 to jump to the top of the leaderboard and claim the conference title, while South Alabama’s Lane Hulse and North Texas’ Rodolfo Cazaubon were tied at two-under at the end of 18 holes.
