An attempted robbery occurred around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 at Troy University in the parking lot behind Clements Hall across John M. Long Drive.

Herbert Reeves, dean of student services, said that a male victim was walking alone before being approached by four males in a white Chevrolet Impala.

It is uncertain what the victim was doing in the parking lot.

The student was prompted by the driver to give them all of his money, though the student was not in possession of any money.

According to an SOS safety alert, a passenger in the car revealed a handgun to the victim.

The suspects, described as four black males, began to leave and the student was able to run for safety.

Reeves encouraged all students to practice campus safety.

“Travel in pairs or groups and stay in well traveled, well lit areas,” said Reeves.

Students are to report any suspicious behavior or persons immediately.
