Posh & P Boutique is one of the new women’s merchandise stores in Troy.

The boutique, which opened on June 21 in Downtown Troy, is growing, according to the owner Sarah Kelley, a Troy alumna. Kelley received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Masters in Collaborative Education, and she is from Vero Beach, Florida.

“I began looking for possible locations in Troy to hopefully fulfill my dream of opening a store,” Kelly said. “This location became available and I knew I couldn’t pass this opportunity up.”

Kelley, along with Elizabeth Whitton, opened an online boutique in 2013 beginning with trunk shows and house parties, and from there she said it began to grow.

“Elizabeth continues to run the online store though Enterprise and we hope to one day expand there,” said Kelley.

Posh & P offers up-to-date clothing, jewelry, shoes, purses, and artwork at affordable prices for women.

“We strive to meet the needs of our customers and try to stay trendy with our merchandise,” Kelly said. “I think our customers are surprised when they see our prices. I think that has been the best response we have had.”

The boutique has merchandise for women of all ages and sizes, and the store offers many popular items.

“My store caters to a variety of styles for every woman,” Kelley said. “We want all ages to feel welcome in our store and can find anything from shoes, accessories, clothes, to art work.”

Kendra Byford, a junior accounting major from Montevallo, has shopped at the boutique several times, and said she really enjoys the items sold there.

“The first time I came here was with my friend, and we were just walking around to all of the shops,” Byford said. “We stopped in here and I really loved everything they had.”

Byford said she enjoyed the prices the store had to offer, and she also liked a “Troy” t-shirt Posh & P was selling.

“I really love shopping there and I love all of the cute clothes they have,” Byford said. “I also like that it’s so close to my apartment and around all of the other stores.”

Surrounding retailers have been supportive of Posh & P.

“Everyone has been supportive,” Kelley said. “I’m thrilled about the revitalization of the downtown area. The square has an array of shops and restaurants and I’m happy to be able to have my shop in the location it is in.”

Kelley said she loves her business and she is happy with how everything is going.

“I am able to do what I love to do,” Kelley said. “It has always been a dream of mine to open a store, and I am blessed to have this opportunity.”

Additional retailers include “Express Yourself” located at 311 Church Street and The Little Ivory Shoppe located at 137 Troy Plaza Loop.

According to Express Yourself’s Facebook they personalize t-shirts, car tags and other items.

“The Little Ivory Shoppe came to be when the owner had conversations with several friends about need appropriate clothing for work and for weekends for average sized women,” according to their Facebook page.
