Tennis takes down Georgia Southern

by Caleb Thomas Georgia Southern 4-2 on the Trojans’ Senior Day. Seniors Vito Llinares and Francisco Erramuspe were sent off with the victory against the Eagles on Monday afternoon. In the victory, Llinares played a big role, bouncing back from an early deficit to win his singles match 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. by Rylee Bamberger Although he normally is a starting pitcher for the Troy Trojans baseball team, graduate transfer Zach Fruit is coming off a dominant 4.2 inning performance out of the bullpen. On Friday, April 7, Fruit relieved Logan Ross in the fourth inning. This was a spectacular Friday for Fruit, recording nine strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work. Trojans extend win streak

by Harrison Glackmeyer The Troy women’s tennis team took home two victories this past week during matches held at the Lunsford Sports Complex in Troy, Alabama,  against Texas State and Louisiana.  The Trojans started Sunday morning off against Texas State. The Trojans were able to successfully beat Texas State 5-2.  The Trojans had incredible performances from singles Kristina Kukaras, and Amin Hagar. Track races to seven 1st-place finishes

by Dylan Seymore Troy put on a dominating performance in the South Florida Invitational with seven first-place performances, three second-place performances and four third-place performances. Javon Osbourne finished at the top of the leaderboard for men’s shot put and discus. Osbourne and his teammate Anthony Symile went against each other in, not one, but two competitions in discus and shot put.  In the end, Symile had to settle for second and third as his final throw in discus landed 51.65m while Osbourne hit 58.47m to claim the first-place position. Troy loses to Southern Miss

by Taylor Fraze Troy continued its season this past weekend with a conference series against Southern Miss. This was the first time these two schools met as conference foes since this is USM’s first season in the Sun Belt.  Troy entered the series with a record of 19-7 and 3-3 in conference play.
