Troy came up with its first win of the season this weekend for homecoming against the New Mexico State Aggies on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The Trojans came out strong to start off the first half by scoring on the first drive and holding the Aggies to a scoreless first quarter.

Junior running back Brandon Burks broke free for a 53-yard run in the first quarter which is the longest in the season for the team and for his career.

In the second quarter, NMSU started off with a quick three play drive to get on the board and make the score 10-7.

On the following kickoff, senior wide receiver Chandler Worthy returned the kick 89 yards for a touchdown to extend Troy’s lead to 17-7.

The Trojans went into the half leading 20-7, and held the Aggies to fewer than 200 total yards of offense in the first half.

After losing a fumble back in the second quarter, sophomore running back Jordan Chunn regrouped and scored his first touchdown of the night and helped Troy go up 27-10 in the third quarter.

The Aggies scored two touchdowns in the second half, but Troy was nearly unstoppable.

Chunn continued to contribute to the team when he scored his second rushing touchdown of the night on an explosive 18-yard run.

Then, to top it all off redshirt freshman quarterback Brandon Silvers completed a 35-yard touchdown pass to Worthy to make the final score 41-24.
