For the first time in the program’s FBS history, Troy (6-2 Sun Belt) won ten games, beating Ohio (8-6, 6-2 MAC) 28-23 in the Dollar General Bowl. Thomas Gleaton Copy Editor Growth and “trending upward” were the themes at Sun Belt Football Media Day, according to Sun Belt Commissioner Karl Benson. The same could be said for Troy University football. The event, held Monday, July 25, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, showcased all 12 Sun Belt teams, including newcomer Coastal Carolina. Benson said the conference’s recent realignment was based around easing travel for student athletes. Cano nabs individual title, earns sixth at Henssler Intercollegiate

In her win, Cano beat out Gabby Barker from Texas Tech, the nation’s No. 4 player at the time. Cano did tie, though, with Barker’s teammate Lauren Mason and Augusta’s Josefine Nyqvist. Instead, the Trojans (12-11) won five of six games on the road, beginning Sunday, March 6, with a 4-1 win at Winthrop in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Troy’s men’s tennis team tops ULL, New Orleans

Thomas Gleaton Chief Copy Editor Troy’s men’s tennis teams went 3-1 in the Mississippi Delta, losing only to Xavier University of Louisiana. On Thursday, Feb. 25, the Trojans beat Louisiana-Lafayette, but the other half of the squad lost to Xavier. The Ragin’ Cajuns took the doubles point 2-1.
